What Does the New Mask Mandate Mean for 20 Mile?

Today, Governor Jared Polis issued a statewide mandate requiring Coloradans to wear masks while in indoor public places. The mandate is no surprise after recent talk in the media about a resurgence of Coronavirus cases in Colorado. But what exactly does this mandate mean for 20 Mile Fitness Collective?

Unfortunately, it means for the next 30 days members will need to wear masks in the gym at all times—even during the WOD. The Colorado Department of Public Health's Guidance for Wearing Masks webpage clarifies the mandate's impact on gyms:

You do not have to wear a mask if you are exercising alone or with others from your own household. But, if you are exercising with a group of people in a public indoor space, then yes, you must wear a mask.

“Although this sucks, it’s a whole lot better than the alternative of having to close the gym again,” said 20 Mile co-owner and coach Monica Brandt, "So as of tomorrow (July 17) please be sure to wear your masks, keep your distance and wash your hands!"

As of now, the mandate remains in effect until August 15.
